Juan Berrios (Horn, Alto Horn, Flugelhorn)

Originally from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Juan Berrios began his musical education in Kissimmee, Florida as a 6th grade beginning band student.  He went on to study Music Education and Performance at the University of Central Florida, where he was the recipient of several awards including the Presser Foundation Scholarship and the Performance Excellence Award.  Juan also spent summers studying as a fellowship and full-scholarship recipient at the Music Academy of the West and the Aspen Music Festival and School, two of the most prestigious summer music festivals in the country.  Juan has performed with a variety of musical ensembles ranging from symphony orchestras to British style brass bands.  Some of these include the Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet, Brevard Symphony, Palm Beach Symphony, Orlando Philharmonic, the Tumucua Jazz Orchestra, the Horns & Pipes Brass Ensemble, and the award winning Brass Band of Central Florida.  In addition, he has shared the stage with the Boston Brass and the Brass All-Stars Big Band, the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, and performed as guest principal horn of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic.  A passionate music educator and avid conductor, Juan enjoys working with students of all ages, staying active in the Central Florida area as a private teacher, brass instructor, and guest clinician/conductor.  

When not touring with the Dallas Brass, Juan enjoys teaching, cooking, and bowling.  He lives in Kissimmee, FL with his wife, a flute player and elementary school music teacher. Juan is a Buffet Crampon performing artist and plays on a Hans Hoyer french horn and a Besson tenor (alto) horn.
