Originally from Port Orchard, WA, Garrett is in demand as a soloist, guest orchestral musician, and clinician. He has performed with the New World Symphony, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, Tucson Symphony and the Phoenix Symphony. As an advocate of new music, Garrett has presented new compositions at the International Trumpet Guild Conference. During the 2018-2019 academic year, Garrett is serving as Visiting Instructor of Music at St. Olaf College, where he teaches trumpet and chamber music. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Gustavus Adolphus College, where he directs the Chapel Brass and coaches small jazz ensembles. Garrett holds degrees from St. Olaf College and Arizona State University, where he is currently completing a Doctorate of Music Arts. His primary teachers include Dr. Martin Hodel, Charles Lazarus, and David Hickman. Garrett is an endorsing artist for Conn-Selmer and performs on Bach Stradivarius trumpets.
